It's Christmas in Hanoi

Arrived tonight in Hanoi. Driver picked us up at airport, said to follow him and then said no more. Let Monica carry 2 heavy bags without any offer of assistance. A 45 minute drive in the dark along very busy roads. Again saw an accident between van and motorcycle. Arrived at our hotel, the Conifer, and was very happy to see our upgraded room. Very comfortable.

At hotel's suggestion we walked a short block to the Club Oriental. Basic asian menu, quite pricey but good food and wine. Felt at home; Michael Buble was singing Christmas music (yes it is mid January) and then followed by Ann Murray. They had both Oysters and Lobster on the menu from Canada. Might as well have been at Canoe. Had one final nightcap at the A"Press Club". Lots of nice wood.
